The filmmaker Nicolas Braguinsky Cascini and the social anthropologist Juan Pablo Aris Escarcena (PhD, University of Sevilla - Spain) have independently written, filmed and produced the thought-provoking documentary: "Solidarity Crime. The borders of democracy", which was screened for the first time in Geneva last month (November 2019). This is an impressive work aimed at generating debate around the criminalisation of solidarity actions towards migrants across the borders of Europe.
The documentary Solidarity Crime was filmed in 14 cities across 5 countries: Ventimiglia, Palermo, Catania, Riace (Italy); Menton and Breil-sur-Roya (France); Geneva, (Switzerland); Seville, Granada, Ceuta and Melilla (Spain); and Nador (Morocco). It is the protagonists themselves who lead the narration telling their own stories, allowing the viewers to draw their own conclusions around one main question: «First, it was the migrants to lose their rights; then, those who stood in solidarity. Who will be next?»
